Well, to offer one of the first reviews is fine by me....;)
Let me start off by saying that even though nature did NOT cooperate with the Sound of Music ideas about a good time, this potentially DISASTEROUS ending was avoided with a good showing of turnout (in spite of the busted outdoor location) and help and support from SD locals and out of towners all in one shot!
Kudos to all the ZOOP'ers who didn't freak out about the bust and got on top of things and made it happen......I know that the *303* wasn't looking forward to spending the night at someone's house getting rested up for the drive back the next morning, so again, Good Job on making it happen!
SHOUTS to all the Mtn-Ravers who made the drive....Karen, Ethan, James, Tanya (you didn't get the tape from me!!!! ;P) Ed, Melinda (Yee-Haw!) Tom and friends, Shazhad (Can you BELEIVE it!) Jonathan and Dave,and any others I may have forgotten, Big ups on the show of support from the CO contingent!!! Also Big ups to the MN contingent that made the LONGER drive too!!! All in all, it ended up ok !!!
The location...THE DUNGEON in some warehousy district of Rapid City...... It was cool......everybody pitching in and getting stuff set up(Good Job Dave Ambient!) It came together rather quickly.....lights,sound, ACTION!!! TILZS goes on, and drops some nicely flavored Techno, Acid, and Trancy flavorings.... Good Job, Tilzs...You've been practicing!!! You really sounded good!!! ;)
Next up, Slippy......*303*'s resident Funky Acid Specialist!!!! I have many good things to say about Kevin's set...But what I'll focus on is his great programming and build-up that is a great precursor of things to come from Kevin...btw, If you haven't heard his ORIGINAL material from LUX.....You need to....Very funky and fun......Had everybody bobbing thier heads and had many people come up and solicit him for tapes...which he gladly obliged......Nice set Kevin.....You da man!!!
Next.....DJ SPIRAL...Minneapolis represent!!! Dallas had a very nice set also...lots of vocals and Speedy Garage Basslines to assist the Rapid City Rollers on their inter-cranial journeys of madness!!! I personally love Dallas's choice of vocals and can't wait to hear his next offering on tape which I hear will be available soon!!! Beat Radio's own steps up and makes the masses happy during his set.....
Next up.....DMX........I don't do my own reviews so whoever would be so kind as to review here would be appreciated !!!!;)
Next up Joey M.......jowee....jowee....jowee.....My fav because one thing that can be said about Joey is his HEART and SOUL for the MUSIC is about the size of ALASKA...Joey does all the right things for the right reasons....His track selection showed it last night....Joey has a great ear for hooks and catches the crowd EVERY TIME that I've seen him play.....I see great things for my homeslice JM and am glad that our paths crossed not too long ago because my life has been enriched by meeting this potentially GREAT DJ ......As I told his girlfriend Jen last night, I love this guy like a brother and was very proud to see him continue his quest for the "set to shake your rump" !!!! Nice job Joey!!! That Joe Pesci Track f*cking RULES!!!! ;)
Oh shit...Next up Nate, DJ ISHE, the lurker ass and long lost bro to the *303* that nobody ever hears from anymore..... ***NATE PLAYED SOME OF THE BEST ELECTRO I HAVE **EVER** HEARD IN MY LIFE!!!!!!! What f*cking planet do you come from Nate, Planet Electro???? Take my to your F*CKING leader, DJ BATTERYBRAIN!!!!! I wish Nate would focus on getting out a tape to the masses so you ALL can hear what makes this guy tick !!! I beleive now it was time for Kid Ambient.....World Traveler Extraordinaire and humper of Jewish Korean Girls in Israel, right Dave?;) JUNGLE JUNGLE AND MORE JUNGLE........Jump up mostly, some intelligent, and Tech thrown in for good measure....I had to leave by about the middle of Dave's set, so I didn't catch it all, but what I heard was tasty and rinsed me out proper...!!! Nice work Dave...Keep on practicing...there are many choicety-moistey trats in store for you if you continue to pay your dues....Right On!
All in all, a good time was had by all...Ryan-E and Heather-E, thanks for the crash space....Did ya get my note?? Lemme know...! Nice to finally meet you Karl!! And since its late, I gotta go....back to reality tommorrow....Lets do it again!
